Sunderland boss keen to Czech out Koller found @ http://www.internetsoccer.com/ 31 January 2001 (TEAMtalk.com) -- Peter Reid has admitted Sunderland are interested in signing £8 million-rated giant Czech striker Jan Koller and may make a future swoop for him. The Black Cats boss has confirmed reports linking him with a move for the Anderlecht hitman and has indicated that he is the type of player he wants at the Stadium of Light. Reid said: "He is someone we have been looking at because at some stage we are going to have to sign another top striker, but nothing is imminent." The 27-year-old, who stands 6ft 7in tall, is very much in the mould of Niall Quinn, prompting Reid's obvious interest in the striker. But Anderlecht are still in the Champions League and will not sell Koller at the moment, while Sunderland will be reluctant to make an immediate bid given the current state of the transfer system. Reid seems certain though to check out Koller when Anderlecht head for Elland Road in a fortnight's time for their European clash with Leeds. |
